Why a new Joe Paterno statue isn’t a bad idea

A new statue of former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno is reportedly in the works. As originally reported by Onward State, the new statue being organized through private means will be located outside the Tavern Restaurant in State College and show Paterno sitting on a bench. Saturday Edge: Wrapping up Penn State’s spring

I was asked to share my thoughts on Penn State coming out of the spring practice season. Here is a sample of what I had to offer. Be sure to check out the entire wrap-up on The Saturday Edge and give it a follow on Twitter

Penn State linemen and coaches catch punts

This video is a couple of days old, but it is worth sharing in case you happened to miss it recently. In it you see James Franklin sending the message to his team that they are going to work hard, but they are also going to loosen up and have some fun at the same time when appropriate.

This special teams game has been done before at other programs, and perhaps it has been done at Penn State before (I don’t know for sure). It doesn’t seem like the sort of thing that would have happened during a Joe Paterno practice. Maybe a Bill O’Brien practice, but again I’m not sure to be honest. It is, however, classic Franklin. Whatever the case, capturing it on video is always entertaining.

Penn State’s recruiting buzz lets imaginations run wild

Penn State had a pretty eventful weekend in the recruiting world. First, the Nittany Lions added offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, Penn State added talented inside linebacker Josh Barajas to the Class of 2015 mix. The buzz continues to swirl around the Penn State program with James Franklin leading the recruiting […]

James Franklin’s family values appreciated

“One of the things I know our players have really appreciated is having their parents coming to practices,” Franklin said. “I think we’ve had five sets of current players parents at practice today which they’re excited about as well. Now they can come up, see their son practice on a Saturday, take them out to lunch and that’s something that’s going to be very important to us. It’s all about relationships.”

The 2016 college football season could see the introduction of yet another neutral site money game pitting two teams from the power conferences in an NFL stadium. If a group of people in Nashville has it their way, the game will take place in the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, LP Field. With a […]
