Welcome to the Morning Cup of Joe, a daily round-up of Penn State football news and nuggets from around the Internet. Coming off an exciting season opening win in Dublin, Penn State kicker Sam Ficken and wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton were recognized by the Big Ten in the first batch of weekly awards. Ficken was […]
Penn State’s flight home across the Atlantic Ocean was likely a smooth one. You can thank kicker Sam Ficken for that one. Ficken successfully kicked all four of his field goal attempts on the pitch in Dublin, Ireland, and Penn State needed every one of those 12 points to get past UCF in the Croke […]
The first weekend of college football is in the books for the Big Ten, and for the most part it was a good start for the conference. Here is the rundown of what took place around the Big Ten on college football’s opening weekend. No. 13 LSU, No. 14 Wisconsin 24 (Houston) For a while it […]
Dublin will again host an American football game between Penn State and UCF this weekend at Croke Park. This game comes following the much needed financial success of 2012’s game at Aviva Stadium between Navy and Notre Dame. The city has been the sight of several failed attempts to bring the sport to Ireland in […]
Today marks the official relaunch of The Nittany Minute, a video blog series focusing on Penn State football. Rather than put together a brand new video every day of the week, I have decided to give this a shot on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the football season. I will get on that schedule […]
On the heels of Big Ten Network analyst Tom Dienhart releasing his Big Ten power ranking for the 2014 season, The Big Ten OT has released the first batch of power rankings for this year’s conference. The Big Ten OT is an independent site covering the Big Ten, with Andy Coppens of Madtown Badgers launching […]
Penn State football will usher in a brand new era with the debut of James Franklin as head coach taking place a hop, skip and a jump away over the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday. The Nittany Lions open the 2014 season in Ireland against UCF, and fans are hopeful Franklin’s coaching debut for Penn State […]
Penn State opens the 2014 season Saturday morning (unless you are fortunate enough to be in Ireland, that is), and it looks as though the Nittany Lions will have something to prove around the Big Ten this fall. This comes as little surprise given the legitimate concerns facing Penn State this season when it comes […]
Per Penn State release… “Penn State football coach James Franklin announced today that tight end Adam Breneman (Mechanicsburg) will be out indefinitely with an injury. Coach Franklin asked that the public support and respect Adam and his family’s privacy.” That’s a major bummer, dude.
Michigan will host Penn State for a night game at Michigan Stadium this season. The Wolverines tend to make a big deal out of this new night game fad they are experiencing, and an alternate uniform worn for the game has been done before. Could it be done again? You bet. Might this be a preview of […]
At one point in our lives we all probably imagined throwing or catching a game-winning touchdown for our favorite team. Some of you may have been older than you’d like to admit, but the youth of a fan base always seems to let the imagination run wild. Take this kid for instance, who imagined he […]
Jim Gardner is a veteran news anchor in Philadelphia at ABC affiliate WPVI. Gardner is well-respected in this area and he has had the opportunity to conduct one-on-one interviews with presidents and international dignitaries over his career. This week he added Penn State head coach James Franklin to that impressive list.
Gardner asks Franklin about taking on the role of face of the university and his Philadelphia area roots. For those who have been keeping up on all of Franklin’s media opportunities since taking over the position of head coach there may not be a whole lot of new information or stories shared here, but if you have 12 minutes to kill, it is still worth watching. Franklin did the interview while wearing flip-flops. Unrivaled.
You can see the full interview below. The original story from 6 ABC can be read here.

Could Penn State sophomore Christian Hackenberg follow up his impressive freshman debut in the Big Ten with a ride to New York? College Football Talk included Hackenberg in a list of potential Heisman Trophy candidates for the […]
