Penn State 48, UMass 7: Finally, a breather

Penn State proved capable of handling moments of adversity in week one in Ireland. In week two the Nittany Lions shrugged aside a rough first half against Akron. They answered the late call again last week on the road at Rutgers. In week four, back in Beaver Stadium, there was never a doubt as Penn […]

Penn State 13, Rutgers 10: R U not entertained?

When it came time for me to wrap my head around Penn State’s week two victory over Akron, here is how I started: It may have just been week two, but the theme for this season of Penn State football appears to be clear. The defense is going to put a shaky Penn State offense […]

Penn State 21, Akron 3: Insert zippy headline here

It may have just been week two, but the theme for this season of Penn State football appears to be clear. The defense is going to put a shaky Penn State offense in position to win games until the offense can figure some things out. On what would eventually prove to be a dismal day […]

Morning Cup of Joe: Decisions, decisions… maybe?

I was out of the home office most of yesterday, so there was no Morning Cup of Joe. Trust me when I tell you I could have used it in the afternoon. Anyway, let’s get it brewed this morning. If you had to choose between Penn State having the bowl ban lifted this year, but […]

Nittany Minute: Just how good is Hackenberg?

Following up on a record-breaking day in the season opener, Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg is already being thrown in the conversation as the best quarterback in school history. I am willing to throw him in the top five without any hesitation, but I still feel there is some work to do to move in to my top three, let alone the top spot overall. The potential is there, I will say that much.

Here is today’s Nittany Minute.

Remembering 1994: No. 9 Penn State 56, Minnesota 3

It was on this day in 1994 when Penn State opened the football season on the road against Minnesota in Big Ten play. It was the start of something beautiful in State College. This is the first in a season-long retrospective of my experience following Penn State in 1994, how it was this team that […]

Morning Cup of Joe: On to the next one

Welcome to the Morning Cup of Joe, a daily round-up of Penn State football news and nuggets from around the Internet. Coming off an exciting season opening win in Dublin, Penn State kicker Sam Ficken and wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton were recognized by the Big Ten in the first batch of weekly awards. Ficken was […]

Sam Ficken

Penn State 26, UCF 24: Oh, Sammy Boy

Penn State’s flight home across the Atlantic Ocean was likely a smooth one. You can thank kicker Sam Ficken for that one. Ficken successfully kicked all four of his field goal attempts on the pitch in Dublin, Ireland, and Penn State needed every one of those 12 points to get past UCF in the Croke […]

Around the Big Ten: Badgers let one slip away

The first weekend of college football is in the books for the Big Ten, and for the most part it was a good start for the conference. Here is the rundown of what took place around the Big Ten on college football’s opening weekend. No. 13 LSU, No. 14 Wisconsin 24 (Houston) For a while it […]

Penn State, UCF, and a brief history of football in Ireland

Dublin will again host an American football game between Penn State and UCF this weekend at Croke Park. This game comes following the much needed financial success of 2012’s game at Aviva Stadium between Navy and Notre Dame. The city has been the sight of several failed attempts to bring the sport to Ireland in […]

Nittany Minute: Time to see what James Franklin can do

Today marks the official relaunch of The Nittany Minute, a video blog series focusing on Penn State football. Rather than put together a brand new video every day of the week, I have decided to give this a shot on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the football season. I will get on that schedule […]
